Richard Rhodes<\/strong>\u00a0is a stone sculptor with a wide-ranging international practice including public art and private commissions. As a scholar of stonework world-wide, Rhodes\u2019 book,\u00a0Stone: Ancient Craft to Modern Mastery was published in June<\/em>\u00a02025 by Princeton Architectural Press.Rhodes was Awarded the\u00a0Burges Visiting Professorship for the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering<\/a>\u00a0at the University of Washington 2025-26.\u00a0 Richard apprenticed\u00a0as a stonemason in Siena, Italy after graduate studies at the London Academy of\u00a0Music and\u00a0Dramatic Art. As the first\u00a0non-Italian admitted into Siena\u2019s ancient masonic guild in 726 years, he is\u00a0known throughout the sculpture and stone\u00a0community as the \u201clast apprentice.\u201d\u00a0 Though now branching into other media such as\u00a0cast bronze, Rhodes credits his guild training as the\u00a0major influence in his\u00a0sculptural practice.\u00a0Rhodes is the founder of several businesses, including Rhodesworks Design Studio, Rhodes Masonry, and Rhodes Architectural Stone.
