Jalisco Ceramic Seated Figure

This red and buff ceramic figure depicts a seated male with hands resting on his knees, a characteristic posture of Jalisco figural sculpture from West Mexico. Created between 300 BCE and 300 CE, the figure reflects the region’s emphasis on solid forms and expressive bodily presence. Such works were often associated with funerary contexts, highlighting beliefs about identity and the afterlife.
