The house

The listing called it beautifully maintained and spacious, and both were true. Twenty seven hundred square feet for three bedrooms means the rooms are generous, and a house four years old at the time of sale had nothing deferred. The arroyo is the amenity: an uncluttered view is rarer close to town than square footage, and the lot was chosen for it.

The neighborhood

Ridgetop Road runs off Highway 599 on the northwest edge of the city, in a district of newer houses on larger lots where the land rolls toward the Jemez. It is a quick drive to the Plaza in one direction and to the Opera and Las Campanas in the other, and it has the open feel of the county with city water and a city commute.
