1 Caminito del Angel is an estate on 26.92 acres held as three lots in Tesuque, adjoining the Santa Fe National Forest. Behind the gate are a main house of 4,745 square feet, a guest house of 769, equestrian facilities, a tennis court, extensive gardens, patios and portals, and a water feature, with panoramic views. There are four bedrooms and five baths across the two houses, four fireplaces, and a two car attached garage, and the property is served by a private well with water rights.
The Webster Estates team represented the seller, and the sale closed in 2005.
Twenty seven acres against the national forest is the rarest kind of land in the Tesuque valley, because the boundary behind the house will never change. The estate was laid out to use it: horses in the equestrian facilities, tennis on the court, gardens around the houses, and trails out the back gate into the forest. The three lot configuration gives an owner options that a single parcel does not.
The main house is elegant in the listing’s word, with four fireplaces and the portals and patios that the climate rewards, and the guest house stands apart. Water rights, which in New Mexico are separate from the land, came with the sale.
Tesuque is the village north of Santa Fe along the Tesuque Creek, and the properties on its eastern edge run up against the Santa Fe National Forest and the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo. It is ten minutes to the Plaza and less to the Opera. The elementary school is Tesuque.
Our Tesuque village guide covers the area and the Tesuque market archive collects our sales there. Nearby we have sold 1422 Bishops Lodge, Hacienda de las Hermanas on Tesuque Ridge, and 22 Lodge in Bishop’s Lodge Hills. Our guide to the best Santa Fe neighborhoods for second homes sets out the case for the village.
We represented the seller at 1 Caminito del Angel, with Richard Theobald co-listing. The estate sold in nine months and closed for cash within seven percent of the asking price. The listing called it a rare opportunity, and the buyer, who came through our own office, agreed.
